So Long, First Trimester!
It's been a long 13 weeks. Especially with keeping such a secret from friends, family, and the blogging community. Now you may start to understand our blogging break. We weren't only dealing with trying to sell our home . . . I was in the joyful first trimester of pregnancy. And "enjoying" everything that goes along with it, like morning sickness.
By now, baby M is already three inches long -- nearly the size of a large peach -- and growing faster by the day. Hard to believe that in March, the little guy or girl was only as big as a poppy seed. OK. It's not hard to believe, it's utterly mind-blowing.
Here I am at week 4. It seems like an eternity ago!

Then week 5. Not much change.

Today's post is just a quick summary of what's been happening these past few months. From now on, we plan to update you all regularly as our pregnancy progresses. But we created this seperate space for all baby-related information and will continue regular (never home)maker postings and recipes.
We skipped some photos after week 5 and went straight for week 8. Running is still going great!

Then we got lazy and didn't take another photo until 11 weeks. At which point, I started to look at least somewhat pregnant. Or bloated. Or a little of both.

The change is subtle unless you look carefully. Let me help. Here's 4 weeks versus 11 weeks. Holy moly!

11 weeks also marked my first unofficial mother's day. Stephen framed an ultrasound photo (from week 9) to honor the occasion.

Then at week 12, I ran my first big race while pregnant -- a half marathon (I've also done a few 5Ks). It took me 2:09 to finish (nearly 25 minutes slower than my usual time), but I don't think that's half bad, considering I stopped at all the porta-potties along the way.

That's right. It also rained. The entire time. But ended up being a lot of fun regardless!

I plan to write a lot more about running and pregnancy in upcoming posts. So far, I'm feeling good and playing it by ear. My pace is much slower because my heart rate goes sky high pretty easily. So, I'm just enjoying the outdoors and any movement I can get!
Today marks week 13 and my entry into the second trimester (at least according to some sources). Again, I want to thank all of you for your support during our blogging break. To be entirely honest, as a food blogger . . . I couldn't even look at posts related to food (let alone cook in my own kitchen) for weeks because of my nausea.
I'm finally turning a corner -- getting my energy back, too -- and I'm excited to fill you in on all the details! If you'd like to follow our pregnancy-related posts specifically, we welcome you to subscribe to the feed.

Oh, yeah! I almost forgot the most important part! We're due right around Thanksgiving Day -- on Monday, November 28th. So, though we don't eat meat, we're growing our own little turkey to celebrate the occasion this year.
Stay tuned for more back-story, to be posted soon. Including Stephen's reaction to the news!
